The air base is part of the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC), home of more than 57,000 Americans and the largest American community outside of the U. Ramstein, Kapaun, Air Station and Vogelweh are the predominately Air Force communities within KMC.

The host unit at Ramstein is the 86th Airlift Wing, whose commander also serves as the Kaiserslautern Military Community commander. Einsiederlerhof Air Station hosts the Warrior Preparation Center (WPC), a fully functional, computer-assisted war-gaming center, providing operational-level training and exercises to US and NATO staffs worldwide.
The WPC was initiated and is directed by both USAFE and USAREUR.
